Adult ADHD Subtypes
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder marked by difficulty focusing, restlessness, and impulsivity. In adults, there are three commonly recognized subtypes of ADHD: inattentive, hyperactive-impulsive, and combined. While many individuals may have symptoms from multiple subtypes, typically only one subtype is given a diagnosis. Recognizing and addressing the subtype of ADHD is important for the successful management of this disorder. Proper diagnosis and treatment can help improve concentration, organization, memory, and time management, resulting in better academic and work performance and fewer interpersonal issues.
