Neuroscience
Neuroscience is the scientific study of the structure and function of the nervous system. This discipline, which combines elements of psychology, biology, chemistry, and physics, deals with the investigation of the function of the brain and its neurons, and their interactions with behavior, cognition, and other parts of the body. It is one of the most rapidly advancing fields of science, and its understanding is crucial to understanding the normal functioning of the human brain and behavior, as well as diagnosing, preventing, and treating neurological diseases. As the understanding of the nervous system becomes more comprehensive, so do the potential applications of neuroscience, including treating and diagnosing neurological disorders, predicting outcomes of drug treatments, and improving our understanding of how the environment affects the brain.
