Criminal Punishment

Criminal punishment is the practice of punishing individuals who have committed a crime. It is a core part of the legal justice system, which is the set of laws and procedures that aim to protect individuals and society from the illegal activities of others. Criminal punishment typically involves either a fine and/or a term of imprisonment, and is administered in an aim to prevent future criminal or unethical behaviours, as well as to protect society from harm. It also serves as a deterrent to potential offenders, who may think twice before carrying out criminal activities due to the fear of being punished. Criminal punishment also allows individuals and victims to receive justice for wrongs committed against them.
