Expert Testimony
Expert testimony is the use of testimony from a witness with specialized training, knowledge or experience in a particular subject to help a jury, judge or arbitrator better understand the evidence or facts of a case. Expert testimony is important because the content and reliability of the evidence presented can impact the outcome of a case. Expert testimony is used in both criminal and civil cases, providing assistance to a jury or judge in understanding the technical material related to a case. This can help determine the guilt or liability or a party in a legal proceeding.
