Forensic Archaeology

Forensic archaeology is a specialized field of archaeology that applies scientific methods to the recovery and analysis of evidence in criminal cases. It is often used to uncover evidence that is difficult to find with other methods. Forensic archaeology enables the analysis of physical evidence at a crime scene, much like a physical archaeology site, which can provide important information to criminal investigators. It is used to assist in the identification of offenders, to break down evidence into manageable pieces, and to reconstruct crime scenes. By employing soil analysis, topographic mapping, excavation techniques, and other methods, forensic archaeologists can search for human remains, weapons, and other evidence to help solve crimes. Forensic archaeology has become an important part of the criminal investigative process and is increasingly relied upon to help solve crimes.
