Forensic Chemistry
Forensic chemistry is the science of applying chemistry to the legal process, typically for the purpose of crime investigation. It involves the identification, analysis, and interpretation of chemical evidence for criminal and civil law investigations. The analysis of a variety of physical evidence – such as hair, fibres and powders – is used to provide vital clues for the investigation and possible resolution of a case. When used in combination with modern investigative techniques, such as DNA matching and facial recognition, forensic chemists are able to accurately and reliably support the criminal justice system. Forensic chemistry is a critical tool for law enforcement, assisting investigators in the pursuit of justice.
