Justice in Science

Justice in Science is an interdisciplinary field of inquiry that can be described as the systematic application of empirical, legal, and ethical methods to advance the principles of fairness and equity in the practice of science. Despite making up a relatively new field of study, Justice in Science has become increasingly important in addressing the ethical issues surrounding how scientific research is conducted, how data are collected and used, and how to ensure that the outcomes of scientific research are equitable and just. In particular, Justice in Science has been applied to areas such as health equity and climate change, in order to ensure that decisions about these issues are reached in a fair, transparent, and equitable manner. Additionally, Justice in Science is helping to ensure that scientific research is conducted in an ethical and socially responsible way, and that the benefits of scientific progress are equitably shared.
