Latent Print Examiner

A Latent Print Examiner is a forensic expert, responsible for examining fingerprints, palm and footprints, as well as other items recovered from scenes of crime. Latent print examiners use specialised scientific methods, such as chemical and physical development, to detect and compare these prints, often with those contained in a database of known individuals. They are able to provide valuable evidence in the process of identifying and matching fingerprints at the crime scene. With their expertise, Latent Print Examiners play a key role in catching and convicting the perpetrators of a crime.
