Trace Evidence
Trace evidence is the smallest of evidence that can be left behind at a crime scene. It may consist of hair, fibers, glass, soil, firearms, ammunition, and gunshot residue, as well as aerosols such as paint and carpet spatter. Trace evidence plays an important role in criminal investigations and is considered valuable in the identification and conviction of suspects. Trace evidence can be used to link individuals and objects to a crime scene, as well as to ascertain the events that may have transpired. It can also play a key role in linking multiple crime scenes together. Trace evidence is an invaluable tool used to help solve criminal cases.
