Watermarking for Digital Forensics
Watermarking is a technique used in digital forensics to identify, trace and protect digital content. It embeds a unique, hidden mark (usually an image, logo or text message) into a digital file or video. These watermarks are difficult to detect but can be traced back to the original source of the file/video. This technique plays an important role in digital forensics by providing an effective means of storing evidence, determining the originator of a digital file and verifying its authenticity. Watermarking systems are used in various fields, including security, copyright protection, media analytics and forensic analysis.
