Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine
Acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) is a comprehensive system of healthcare with a history dating back over 3000 years. It is based on the belief that the body contains a vital force known as Qi (chi). Acupuncture involves the insertion of fine, sterile needles at specific points on the body to help restore balance and increase the flow of qi, thereby releasing tension and triggering the body's natural healing response. The traditional Chinese medical sciences also include tuina (massage therapy), dietary therapy, moxibustion, and herbs. The use of acupuncture and TCM is becoming increasingly popular, particularly in the West. It is far less invasive than conventional medicine, carries fewer risks and side effects, and is known for its effectiveness in treating a wide range of conditions. Studies have found that acupuncture can provide relief from physical pain, as well as from stress, insomnia, and digestive issues. Additionally, it has been used to treat conditions such as headaches, endometriosis, and infertility. Additionally, TCM is an excellent choice for preventative care and overall health maintenance.
