Moxibustion

Moxibustion is a traditional Chinese medicine modality used to treat a wide variety of imbalances and conditions. It is based on the principles of stimulating energy points in the body with heat generated by burning mugwort herb. By burning the herb above the skin, the heat travels through the meridians, providing a warming sensation. This warming sensation is thought to invigorate and restore the flow of qi, which is believed to be the vital energy that regulates physical, mental and emotional functions of the body. Moxibustion can be used to reduce pain, strengthen the immune system, improve digestion, reduce stress and help with fertility. The effects of moxibustion can be further enhanced when it is combined with other Chinese medicine modalities such as acupuncture.
