Gouty Arthritis
Gouty arthritis is a type of arthritis caused by the buildup of uric acid crystals in and around a joint. It is often characterized by episodes of sudden and severe joint swelling, tenderness, and pain. Those affected by this type of arthritis often experience intense pain and difficulty with movement. Gouty arthritis is often associated with the following risk factors: obesity, dehydration, fatty or processed foods, alcohol, and certain medications. Treatment for gouty arthritis often includes the use of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, as well as lifestyle modifications, such as avoiding alcohol and maintaining a healthy weight. Even with proper treatment, long-term relief from gouty arthritis may be difficult to achieve. However, understanding its risk factors and following a proper treatment plan can help to manage its symptoms and improve overall quality of life.
