Knee Arthritis
Knee arthritis is a degenerative joint disorder which causes pain, swelling, and stiffness in the knees. It is the most common joint disorder affecting people over the age of 65 and is one of the leading causes of disability in the elderly. It is caused when the cartilage in the joint gradually wears away, leaving exposed bone which causes friction and pain. Treatment methods include exercise, physical therapy, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, steroid injections, and in severe cases, surgery. Knee arthritis is a serious condition that significantly limits mobility and affects quality of life. It is important to seek proper medical advice to start an appropriate treatment plan.
