Osteotomy

An osteotomy is a surgical procedure in which a bone is cut to correct an abnormal or damaged joint. It is done to realign a bone, reduce joint pressure and reduce the risk of further joint damage. Osteotomy is often used in the treatment of conditions such as osteoarthritis and fractures, as well as correcting congenital abnormalities. This technique can significantly reduce pain and improve function and mobility in the affected joint. It is a common procedure for treating knee and hip osteoarthritis, and can be used on other joints.
