Toe Amputation

Toe amputation is a surgical procedure that is performed when a toe becomes severely damaged due to infection, trauma or disease. The overall aim of the procedure is to restore functionality to the affected foot by removing the dead, damaged or diseased tissue. After the toe has been amputated, the patient may need to use an artificial replacement such as a prosthetic toe, or they may be able to wear a special shoe to compensate for the missing part of their foot. In some cases, toe amputation can help to reduce pain and discomfort, improve mobility, and protect the patient’s foot from further injury.
