Trochanteric Bursitis

Trochanteric bursitis is inflammation of the trochanteric bursa – a fluid-filled sac located at the side of the hip joint. It is a common cause of hip and thigh pain, particularly for those who overuse their hip joints or experience repetitive stress or trauma to the hips. The condition is typically felt on the outside of the hip and may be accompanied by stiffness and difficulty sleeping on the affected side. Treatment includes rest, stretching, physical therapy, and occasionally corticosteroid injections. In severe cases, surgery may be necessary.
