Cognitive Impairment
Cognitive impairment is a decrease in an individual’s ability to think, remember, and make decisions. It can range from mild to severe and is caused by a range of factors including head injuries, Alzheimer's disease, strokes, and depression. Cognitive impairment can significantly impact a person’s quality of life and increase risk of falls and accidents. It is also associated with an increased risk for premature death. Management of cognitive impairment often involves a combination of medications, therapies, and lifestyle changes. Early detection and interventions can improve outcomes and quality of life. Hence, it is important to have regular cognitive assessments as part of routine health care.
