Mental Health Personality Disorders
Personality disorders are conditions that affect the way an individual views, interacts with, and responds to the environment and situations around them, and the way they think of themselves. These types of disorders are commonly diagnosed in adolescents and adults, and can cause substantial distress in individuals if left untreated. Personality disorders are classified into three main clusters: Cluster A (odd, eccentric behavior); Cluster B (dramatic, erratic behavior); and Cluster C (anxious, fearful behavior). Those who have personality disorders typically display long-term patterns of distorted thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that are significantly different from cultural norms and expectations, and these patterns can cause significant disruption in various aspects including relationships, work, and family life. Treatment for personality disorders usually involves a combination of medication and psychotherapy, and can help the person to better manage their thoughts and behaviors, and build more meaningful and satisfying relationships.
