Bioalcohols
Bioalcohols are organic compounds consisting of a hydroxyl group (-OH) attached to a carbon-based structure, most often a long chain of carbon atoms. These compounds have a range of important applications in the manufacture of industrials chemicals, medicinal drugs, food additives, and even fuels, among other uses. They are also present in nature and are made by a variety of organisms, including humans. Bioalcohols have unique physical and chemical properties, such as low toxicity and flammability, and can be used as alternatives to petroleum-based fuel. In addition, bioalcohols are easily broken down and are biodegradable, making them an increasingly important part of our renewable energy source. As such, bioalcohols are an important research subject and offer many opportunities for future applications.
