Bioenergetics
Bioenergetics is the study of the flow of energy in living systems. It examines how molecules such as ATP (adenosine triphosphate) are produced and how they are used to drive biochemical reactions that involve the transformation of energy into biologically usable forms. Bioenergetics is important for understanding how cells extract energy from food and oxygen and how living organisms use this energy to perform metabolic processes and other biological functions. Bioenergetics is also beneficial for understanding the basis of disorders involving energy metabolism, such as diabetes, obesity, and cardiovascular diseases. It has applications in biotechnology, nutrition, and exercise science, as well as in environmental science and systems biology.
