Biosynthesis
Biosynthesis is the process of producing complex molecules from simpler molecules within a living organism. It is the most common form of metabolic activity in all living organisms, including plants, animals, and microorganisms. Biosynthesis occurs through a complex network of metabolic pathways and is often used in the production of hormones, vitamins, enzymes, and other biologically active molecules. Through biotechnology, biosynthesis has been used to create new molecules, such as antibiotics and other drugs, as well as industrial and agricultural materials, such as biofuels and fertilizers. It has also been used to help develop new medical treatments and diagnostic tools. Consequently, biosynthesis is an important tool in the furtherance of human health, agriculture and industry.
