Protein Concentration Assays
Protein concentration assays are tests used to measure the amount of protein in a sample. They are typically performed in laboratory settings and involve preparing a protein standard solution, creating a diluted sample of the sample to be tested, and measuring the absorbance of light in a spectrophotometer to determine the protein concentration. Protein concentration assays are significant because accurate protein measurements are critical for understanding the properties of proteins and the function of the molecules in a biological system. Protein concentrations are also important in the pharmaceutical industry, where they are useful for assessing the potency and safety of drugs.
