Encephalitis

Encephalitis is an inflammation of the brain caused by a viral infection. It can cause confusion, seizures, and even death if it is left untreated. Symptoms usually include fever, headache, stiff neck, confusion, drowsiness, and sometimes even seizures. Early diagnosis and treatment are essential for a full recovery. Treatment for encephalitis includes medications to reduce swelling and inflammation, antibiotics, and antiviral medications. In some cases, supportive care may be needed such as breathing support, medications to control fever, or nutrition support. Encephalitis can be a potentially life-threatening disease, so it is important to recognize the signs and symptoms of encephalitis as soon as possible and seek medical care.
