Meningiomas

Meningiomas are tumors of the meninges - the protective layers that cover the brain and spinal cord - that can cause a wide range of neurological symptoms. They are one of the most common brain tumors in adults and are usually benign, meaning they are not cancerous. Although they can be symptomless, if left untreated, they can cause neurological deficits, seizures and headaches. Surgery is the primary treatment, with radiation and chemotherapy often used to control or prevent the growth of the tumor. Proper diagnosis and treatment of meningiomas are essential for preserving neurological function and quality of life.
