Deep Breast Pain
Deep breast pain is an often overlooked condition that is characterized by a throbbing or aching sensation in the chest, which may be felt in both breasts or in one. It can occur in women of all ages, but is more common in those over 45. Deep breast pain is not the same as mastalgia, which is more likely to be caused by hormonal fluctuations. It is believed to be linked to structural changes in the breast tissue that can be caused by pregnancy, menopause, or a decrease in oestrogen levels. Treatments such as using over the counter medications, wearing a support bra, or taking hormone supplementation can help alleviate the pain. It is important for women to seek medical advice if they experience deep breast pain so that a diagnosis can be made and the best treatment plan can be determined.
