Milk, Human
Human milk is an important source of nutrition for infants, providing necessary nutrients, antibodies and essential fatty acids. It is also a source of growth hormones and prebiotics that are essential for the development of infant's immune system. Human milk is essential for the optimal growth and development of the infant, including proper brain and nervous system development. It is also the best source of hydration during the first months of life. Human milk protects an infant against a range of illnesses and diseases, such as allergies, respiratory illnesses and gastrointestinal disorders, as well as reducing the risk of developing acute childhood illnesses in later life. Furthermore, it is a key component to establishing a healthy relationship between mother and infant.
