wort Motherwort (Leonurus cardiaca) is an herbaceous perennial plant native to Europe and Asia. It is known for its medicinal properties, having been traditionally used to treat a variety of ailments including menstrual cramps, irregular menstruation, hypertension, anxiety, palpitations, and digestive issues. Recently, research has also indicated that Motherwort may have anti-inflammatory properties, as well as the ability to decrease blood sugar levels in diabetics.
