Gene Therapy
Gene therapy is a promising medical technology that involves the insertion or replacement of genes or genetic material in order to treat a medical condition or disease. The aim of gene therapy is to replace or alter defective genes or to block the action of harmful genes or to introduce beneficial new genes. Gene therapy is used to treat a wide range of diseases, including cancer, inherited conditions and conditions caused by viruses, such as HIV/AIDS. It has shown promising results in treating conditions such as cystic fibrosis, Huntington's disease and muscular dystrophy. It is also being studied for its potential in treating Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease, diabetes and cardiovascular diseases. Gene therapy holds the promise of a new era of personalized medicine, offering the treatment of diseases without relying on drugs and surgery.
