Neuroblastoma
Neuroblastoma is a type of cancer that develops from immature nerve cells found in different areas of the body. It is most commonly found in and around the adrenal glands, located atop the kidneys, but it can also occur in the neck, chest, abdomen, or pelvis. It is the most common cancer in infants and young children. Neuroblastoma usually presents with local symptoms, such as a mass in the abdomen or an abnormal chest x-ray finding, but it can also spread to other organs and cause systemic symptoms. Treatment is based on the stage and prognosis and may include surgery, chemotherapy, radiation, or biological therapy, or a combination of these. Early detection and accurate staging are important for improving the chances of successful treatment and long-term survival.
