Skin Cancers
Skin cancer is a group of diseases that affects the cells of the skin and is one of the most common forms of cancer worldwide. The most common types of skin cancers are basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, and melanoma. Basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma are often caused by exposure to ultraviolet radiation from the sun, whereas melanoma can develop due to ultraviolet radiation or genetics. Treatment for skin cancer generally depends on the type and stage of the cancer, but can include surgery, radiation therapy, and chemotherapy. Early detection is key in treating skin cancer, as it is highly curable when caught in its early stages. Therefore, it is important to regularly check your skin for any changes and to wear sunscreen when outdoors.
