Carbohydrate Metabolism
Carbohydrate metabolism involves the process of breaking down carbohydrates into simpler molecules, such as glucose, to be used as energy by the body. These molecules are then further broken down so that the energy can be used to produce energy-containing molecules called ATP, which are used by cells for many metabolic processes. Carbohydrate metabolism is essential for the normal functioning of the body, as it is responsible for providing energy for various bodily functions. Furthermore, it is important for tissue growth and repair, and for normal organ function. Imbalances in carbohydrate metabolism can lead to serious disorders, such as diabetes, obesity, and metabolic syndrome.
