Scc

2 Scc2 (Saccharomyces cerevisiae Cohesin Complex subunit 2) is a protein involved in the maintenance of chromosome structure and stability in the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae. Scc2 plays a critical role in regulating the proper segregation of chromosomes during cell division, as well as in controlling the organization of the genome by interacting with DNA-binding proteins. Loss of Scc2 function has been linked to problems in cell division and DNA repair, as well as to a wide range of diseases including cancer, premature aging, and genome instability syndromes. Thus, Scc2 is an essential component in the maintenance of genome integrity and stability, and its importance in human health cannot be understated. As such, Scc2 is an important target for both basic and applied research, with implications for the treatment of a range of diseases.
