Abusive Use of Drugs
Abusive use of drugs is an increasing and serious public health problem. It is characterized by illegal or excessive use of various substances or drugs, such as opioids, alcohol, and substances of abuse. This form of drug misuse can lead to physical and psychological dependency and may cause significant harm to individuals and society. Abusive use of drugs can lead to increased risk for accidents, mental health and social problems, and death. Treatment for drug abuse should include evidence-based strategies and interventions, such as medication-assisted treatment, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and social support services.
