Child Psychiatry
Child Psychiatry is a medical specialty dedicated to the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders in children and adolescents. It incorporates elements from several branches of medicine, including genetics, neurology, endocrinology, psychology, and social work to understand, evaluate and treat children and adolescents with psychiatric problems. Child Psychiatry is an essential component of any comprehensive child health care program, as it helps to identify, prevent and treat emotional, behavioral, and developmental disorders in children. Treatment plans are tailored to meet the individual needs of each child, and may involve psychotherapy, medication, and other interventions depending on the child's and family's needs. In addition, Child Psychiatry facilitates early intervention and preventive strategies to help children achieve their fullest potential.
