Genetics

Genetics is the scientific study of the transmission of inherited traits from parents to offspring. It is a branch of biology that studies how genes, the basic hereditary units, are passed down from one generation of organisms to the next. Genetics plays an important role in understanding heredity, variation, development, and evolution. In humans, it is used in medicine to diagnose and treat genetic disorders, identify individuals at risk of certain diseases, and develop personalized therapies. It can also be applied to improve crop yields and increase disease resistance in plants, and to design effective treatments for livestock and improve their productivity.
