Pediatric Mental Health
Pediatric mental health is a subspecialty of mental health focusing on the mental health of children and adolescents. Its significance lies in the understanding that mental health difficulties present themselves differently in the pediatric population and require specialized treatment. Pediatric mental health specialists are equipped to recognize and diagnose a wide variety of mental health issues in children and provide treatment to help them develop healthy coping and social skills. Some of the most common mental health issues among young people include depression, anxiety, disruptive behavior disorders, and attention deficit disorders. Pediatric mental health specialists use various approaches such as cognitive behavior therapy, family therapy, and school-based interventions to provide support and help kids and teenagers lead successful, fulfilling lives.
