Post-traumatic Stress Disorder
Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is an anxiety disorder that can occur after someone experiences or witnesses a traumatic event. Symptoms may include flashbacks, nightmares, avoidance of certain situations, or even feeling emotionally 'numb'. PTSD can have a greatly negative impact on a person's life, so it's important to seek treatment. Treatment options include psychotherapy, medications, or a combination of the two. With proper treatment, individuals with PTSD can learn strategies to manage their symptoms and improve their quality of life.
