Tourette Syndrome
Tourette syndrome (TS) is a neurological condition characterized by repeated, involuntary physical or vocal tics. It is estimated to affect up to 1 in 100 children and adolescents, and can have a significant impact on physical health, social interactions, and academic performance. Common tics associated with TS include repetitive eye blinking, throat clearing, facial grimacing, and arm or leg jerking. Treatment strategies for TS focus on reducing tic frequency and severity, minimizing their disruptive effects on functioning, and providing emotional support for people living with the condition. With appropriate treatment and support, individuals with TS can lead full and meaningful lives.
