Chromosome 16
Chromosome 16 is a chromosome that humans have in their genetic makeup. It is the longest human chromosome, containing approximately 107 million base pairs, and it plays a major role in the development of a person. It contains roughly 858 genes, many of which are associated with different diseases and disorders, such as Down syndrome and Prader-Willi syndrome. Chromosome 16 is also believed to be involved in the regulation of some metabolic pathways. As such, it has become a major focus of research and is one of the most studied of all the human chromosomes. This research has led to new treatments and therapies for a variety of genetic disorders and diseases.
