Chromosome 4
Chromosome 4 is the fourth of the 23 pairs of chromosomes in the human genome. It is the smallest human chromosome, consisting of around 190 million base pairs of DNA. Chromosome 4 has been an integral part of medical research for many years and has been linked to various diseases, such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's. In addition, some genes associated with hereditary forms of obesity can be found on chromosome 4. More recently, studies have also linked variants of chromosome 4 to an increased risk of some types of cancer, such as prostate and breast cancer. Chromosome 4 is therefore a significant area of medical intervention, with further research likely to provide important insights into the causes and treatments of various medical conditions.
