Hiv Long-term Survivors
HIV long-term survivors are individuals who have been living with HIV for 10 years or more. Given the advances in medical treatments, the number of people surviving an HIV infection for a long period of time is increasing. Long-term survivors are an important demographic in the fight against HIV/AIDS, as their experiences can be used to further develop strategies for prevention, treatment, and care for those living with HIV today. Studies suggest that long-term survivors often face unique challenges, such as physical and mental health challenges, social stigma, and financial instability. Therefore, long-term survivors are crucial stakeholders to include when developing HIV-centered public health policies. Understanding the needs of HIV long-term survivors is critical to ensure they have access to the quality care and support they need to live a long and healthy life.
