Hiv Research
HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) is a virus that attacks the immune system, making it difficult for the body to fight off infections and other diseases. HIV/AIDS research is aimed at developing better ways of preventing, diagnosing, treating, and curing HIV and AIDS. Research includes looking at ways to reduce rates of transmission of the virus, to understand why some people progress faster to AIDS than others, and to develop new and more effective drugs. Research into HIV/AIDS has led to better treatments and improved survival rates, and has allowed access to reproductive health services, such as PrEP (Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis). By continuing to invest in HIV/AIDS research, we can work towards a future without the virus, and ensure better access to quality healthcare for those living with HIV/AIDS.
