Viral Targets

Viral targets refer to proteins embedded in the cell membrane of a virus that are targeted by the host’s immune system for antibody-mediated neutralization. Viral targets are essential for a successful immune response against viral diseases and thus have immense importance in viral immunology research. They are important in developing new vaccines and antiviral treatments. Identifying viral targets can help in better understanding the life cycle of a virus and thus provide better strategies to control its spread and infectivity.
