Biography:
- Marco Bozzali obtained his degree in Medicine at the University of Milan (Italy) in 1997, and completed his Specialist Neurology training in 2003.
- Between 1998 and 2003, he worked at the Department of Neurology and the Neuroimaging Research Unit at the Research Hospital San Raffaele (Milan).
- In 2003, he took up the position of Clinical Research fellow at the Wellcome Trust Centre for Neuroimaging and the Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience, University College London.
- In 2006, he moved back to Italy working as Consultant in Neurology at the Department of Neurology and Director of the Clinical Science theme of the Neuroimaging Laboratory of Santa Lucia Foundation IRCCS, Rome (Italy).
- In 2017, he was appointed Senior Lecturer (Honorary Consultant) in Neurology at Brighton and Sussex Medical School, University of Sussex, UK.
- He still maintains the role of PI at the Neuroimaging Laboratory of Santa Lucia Foundation in Rome (Italy).
Research:
- Since the beginning of his career, Marco has worked in the field of Neuroimaging as applied to Neuroscience. His main research interests are the investigation of neurodegenerative and inflammatory diseases of the CNS, using both structural and functional quantitative MR techniques.
- He also enthusiastically runs many other projects focusing on various neurological and psychiatric conditions, such as Myotonic Dystrophy and OCD.
- More recently, he has been focusing on the combination of different techniques, such as MRI and transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) or MRI and stimulation of the autonomic nervous system.
