Anal Fistula
An anal fistula is a small tunnel-like passageway that develops between the anus and the skin, usually as a result of an infection in the anal glands. It is usually associated with symptoms such as pain, itching and inflammation. Treatment of the underlying infection and removal of the fistula is often necessary. It is important to seek medical attention if anal pain, itching or other symptoms develop, as the condition can lead to further health complications if left untreated. Anal fistula surgery is often the best course of treatment to reduce pain, aid healing and avoid long-term health issues.
