Plant Taxonomy
Plant taxonomy is the science of classifying plants. It is used to identify, describe and name plants, as well as to categorize them into related groups. By understanding the relationships between plants, we are better able to understand their uses in the environment, and to find solutions to the many problems facing our planet. Plant taxonomy is key to identifying plants for conservation, agricultural, industrial and medicinal purposes. It is also very important in understanding the evolution of plants, and in botanical research.
