Prophylactic Ureteral Stent Placement
Prophylactic ureteral stent placement is an important medical procedure used to prevent kidney complications and reduce the risk of further injury to the ureter, which is the tube connecting the kidney to the bladder. This procedure is beneficial in the treatment of urinary conditions, such as kidney stones, hydronephrosis, and ureteral strictures. It involves the insertion of a small flexible tube to the ureteral orifice, which is therefore able to hold urine in the ureter and reduce any potential obstruction or blockage. This procedure can be done on an outpatient basis and has a high success rate with minimal risk of complications.
