Adenoviruses

Adenoviruses are a group of viruses that can cause a variety of illnesses in humans. They infect cells by attaching to a receptor on their surface and entering the cell's nucleus. They can cause severe respiratory illnesses such as the common cold and pneumonia, as well as other diseases including conjunctivitis, gastroenteritis, and cystitis. Adenoviruses are also being studied as potential vectors for gene therapy, where they can be used to deliver gene therapy to specific cells without causing disease. They can also be used to produce vaccines and therapeutic proteins, making them valuable tools in biotechnology and medicine.
