Dengue

Dengue is a mosquito-borne viral infection caused by any one of the four dengue viruses. It is most common in tropical and subtropical areas of the world, including countries in Southeast Asia, Latin America, and Africa. Symptoms of dengue include fever, joint pain, headache, nausea, and rash. Dengue can be a serious and life-threatening illness, especially in its most severe form known as dengue hemorrhagic fever. There is currently no vaccine or specific antiviral treatment for dengue, so prevention efforts focus on controlling the mosquito population and reducing contact between people and mosquitoes.
